This is a funny print ad

“Don’t leave it to fate” because if you do, you’ll end up dating this rapist here.

Ad is for the online dating service JDate. Me likey.

A good friend and I were recently discussing the evolving social perception of online dating, which was once viewed with a certain stigma by just about everyone. It felt like the poor man’s alternative to actually, you know, meeting people in real life and allowing the courtship to begin from there. Those who relied solely on the etherweb to find digital sparks always struck me as slightly desperate…almost as if this newfound romantic portal was their only shot at finding companionship.

Not anymore. Nowadays, it seems as though anyone and everyone is willing to search for adulation via their internet browsers – especially 20-somethings. My friend and I were both equally surprised by the number of similarly aged friends and acquaintances we knew that were diving head first into the online dating world. It makes sense. After all, our relationships have been slowly migrating towards different screens for a number of years. Texting is the new first date. Facebook is the new love note. I guess online dating is the new awkward singles mixer.

I suppose it’s an improvement.
